J. Nicole Martin Lawton, Esq., MPH

President and CEO

J. Nicole Martin Lawton, Esq., MPH is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Phoenix Language Services, Inc.

Nicole is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, and a licensed attorney in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and state of New Jersey, with years of experience in health care law. Nicole practiced health law as a partner at a Philadelphia-headquartered law firm that ranks among the top 100 firms in the country.

Nicole uses her years of experience in health care law in her position with Phoenix, which since 1993 provides professional interpreters and translators to clients in an array of sectors, including the healthcare, legal, corporate, and social services industries, as well as the government.

Under Nicole’s direction, Phoenix has earned its minority and woman-owned business certifications (WBE, MBE, WOSB, SDB, SB). Further, Phoenix has expanded its strategic alliances to enhance the breadth of the remote interpreting services Phoenix offers for its clients, as well as continuing to develop and bring to production Phoenix’s Interpreter Management System® software.

Nicole is a proud mom to her two young girls, and she is on the Board of Trustees for The Rock School for Dance Education.

Abbey Madden, RN

Medical Compliance Officer
Abbey has worked with Phoenix since 2002 as a trainer and medical compliance officer. Abbey is a registered nurse who has spent 20 years caring for patients in a hospital setting. Her detail-oriented, skillful, provider’s perspective infuses the Phoenix process with care and professionalism to excel in meeting the needs of our clients.

Colleen Wallace

Finance Director
Colleen has worked with Phoenix since 2012 as an administrative assistant and now as Finance Director. Her tenacity, dedication, and ability to troubleshoot helps Phoenix in solving challenges and providing cost-effective services.

Lauren Bland-Delmarr

Operations Manager
Lauren began with Phoenix as a Data Entry Manager from 2010-2012, Lead Scheduler from 2015-2017, Office Manager / Lead Scheduler from 2017-2022 and now is our Operations Manager. Lauren offers an uncanny ability to work under pressure and identify the best interpreter for every situation to maximize our provision of services.

Katie Alves, MA

LANGUAGE ACCESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER & CMIT® INSTRUCTOR

Katie joined Phoenix as a Spanish interpreter in 2015, has been a trainer with Phoenix since 2017, and joined as the Language Access Development Manager in 2023.. She holds a master’s degree in Intercultural Communication, Translation, & Interpretation in Public Services which she received from the University of Alcalá de Henares in Spain. Her passion is to create ways to empower clients/stakeholders to elevate the importance that interpreting holds in all areas. Katie has worked in the foreign language industry for over 15 years and looks forward to the impact that intentional interpreter training will have on the future of the profession.

Katelyn Maldonado

Senior Scheduler

Kate came on board with Phoenix as a Project Administrator from 2018-2020, as a Project Manager / Scheduler from 2020-2022 and now is our Senior Scheduler. Along with this role, Kate also oversees all CMIT® recruitment and enrollment. Her superb customer service skills and desire to meet the needs of our clients and interpreters are invaluable.

Annmarie joined Phoenix in October 2022. She has a background in the healthcare industry focusing on elder care for over a decade. Her unwavering commitment to ensure language access and to offer superb customer service makes Annmarie an integral member of the Phoenix team.

Sofí DiSepio, M.Ed., CHI™

CMIT® INSTRUCTOR & INTERPRETER QA

Sofí has worked as a Spanish interpreter since 2017 and received her CHI certification in 2020. Sofí holds a Masters of Education with Teacher Licensure. Her passion to raise the standard in the interpreting profession is evident as she works with our team to ensure quality assurance and interpreter development.

Gerardo Lazaro, Ph.D., CHI™

CMIT® Instructor

Gerardo is a former employee of Phoenix for over ten years. He is a nationally certified interpreter (since 2012), a trainer, and now a contracted CMIT® Instructor. On behalf of Phoenix and the National Institute For Coordinated Health Care, Gerardo contributed to the creation of the Core Medical Interpreter Training® program and has spent his professional career working diligently to ensure quality based language access through a public health lens.

Debi Saldaña, CHI™

CMIT® Instructor

Debi started with Phoenix in 1994 and has held multiple roles within the organization, including quality assurance and was formerly a longtime BTG trainer. Debi is a nationally certified interpreter and now a CMIT® Instructor. She has honed her skills and continues to grow as a conference interpreter. Debi has an undergraduate degree in French Literature and Languages from St. Joseph’s University, and did graduate work in Spanish Literature and Education at Villanova University. Debi has worked in the foreign language industry for 30 years and finds great satisfaction in educating stakeholders in the industry.
